HAI Music Gateway Now Shipping - View Album Art on Your HAI Touchscreen; Plus Free Remote Access for Mobile Device Users
HAI's Music Gateway (HAI part number 84A00-1) is a music server/renderer with three independent stereo channels, opening up your music collection to the rest of your home. In addition to serving music, it includes HAI's WL3 software for remote home control access via the Internet, including web-enabled devices like Droid, BlackBerry, iPhone, and Windows phones. WL3 can also be used to integrate IP cameras, with recording and playing capabilities based on motion, alarm, or door openings. WL3 can be set up to send email or text alerts. Homeowners can access security, multi-room audio, lights, temperatures, and more thanks to the duality of the Music Gateway.
The Music Gateway mounts securely in a structured wiring enclosure. Music can be played directly from the hard drive or from a network share. Easily store tens of thousands of songs, along with album art and details, directly on the 500GB internal hard drive. Songs may also be stored and shared via the network, creating a virtually unlimited music library. Included desktop software allows for creation of custom playlists and assists with music and meta-data uploading.
Homeowners can use HAI's IP OmniTouch Touchscreens to control the Music Gateway. Album artwork plus artist, song, and album title meta-data can be viewed. Selections can be made by artist, title, genre or playlist. A default Music Gateway screen will be displayed on OmniTouch 5.7e and 10pe Touchscreens, but it can be fully customized using HAI's Automation Studio software.

HAI Wireless Driveway Sensor - Now Shipping
HAI, the leading manufacturer of integrated automation and security products since 1985, announced that it is now shipping the Wireless Driveway Sensor (HAI part number 63A00-1).
The Wireless Driveway Sensor uses Earth's magnetic field to detect moving metal objects (such as automobiles) that pass by it. The unobtrusive Wireless Driveway Sensor can be used to turn on outdoor lighting when approaching, or used to alert homeowners with video surveillance when a visitor has entered the driveway. Since the 63A00-1 is wireless, there is no digging or underground cable required. The Wireless Driveway Sensor has two unique mounting options via the included stake or post/wall mount.
"This is an often requested product in large estate installations", explains HAI President, Jay McLellan. "This product is affordable and easy to install, making it a smart option for HAI's dealers already installing HAI Wireless security sensors and HAI access control products."
The Wireless Driveway Sensor is part of HAI's wireless security product line, which requires the use of an HAI 64 Zone Wireless Receiver (HAI part number 45A00-1).
Order this and other HAI items from Group One today.

• What's all the noise about SFP technology and why is it important to me as a designer or integrator?
• What cost-effective options do I have in migrating to an IP network while still maintaining my legacy equipment investment?
• How can network health and monitoring web services help me to better service my customers and reduce my servicing costs?
As an industry leader, IFS Transmission, by GE/UTC Fire & Security, is a name you know and trust for fiber optic transmission. Now, with four new product categories and our one platform approach, IFS Transmission products provide even more value with solutions that are intelligent, scalable, and flexible for almost any physical media transmission need.

Hi-Fi by HAI no longer available - Hi-Fi 2 Coming Soon!!
The Hi-Fi by HAI is no longer available (the factory is out of stock). While this is an abrupt development, the Hi-Fi 2 is coming soon.
Hi-Fi 2 is the successor to HAI’s popular Hi-Fi distributed audio system. Hi-Fi 2 is all new, with more zones, power, sources and a new keypad with OLED display. The main amplifier form factor is similar to Hi-Fi, and is offered in an enclosure and on a structured wiring backplate. Hi-Fi 2 comes standard as an 8 source, 8 zone system, with all 8 zones amplified. (Most 8 zone systems have 6 amplified with 2 line outputs.) (System expandable to 16 zones.)
The power supply is now built onto the main amplifier, replacing the “bricks” of the original Hi-Fi. In addition to the serial port for control of the system, there is an Ethernet port allowing it to be controlled by HAI’s IP Suite of products.
The Volume Source Control (VSC) is now a keypad instead of a knob. It is a single gang Decora style unit with 4 buttons, raise volume, lower volume, power and source. The display is now a white OLED display that can show the source name, a volume bar chart, bass, treble, balance and other settings. When used with a Music Gateway, it can display what is playing. As before, it has the IR repeater function and a small hand-held IR remote. The VSC connects to the amp with a single Cat 5. 8 VSC’s come with the Hi-Fi 2.
There are now 8 source inputs that come with Hi-Fi 2, which can either be local at the Hi-Fi 2 amplifier or remote using a RIM connected to Cat5, as before. 4 RIMS come with the Hi-Fi 2 amplifiers for the most popular remote inputs (home theater, kitchen TV, iPod dock, den entertainment center). More RIMs are available separately. There are 8 local inputs on the amplifier board for use with an HAI Music Gateway, Internet and satellite radio tuners. There are 8 sources maximum, and they can either be local or RIM.
The amplifier uses state of the art digital technology. Power output is up substantially, to 25 watts per channel at 8 ohms. (Hi-Fi was 10 watts at 8 ohms.) The 8 ohm rating allows more power to be delivered to speakers over long wire runs. There are Line Out amplification outputs for zone 7 and 8 (this is in addition to the built-in amps) as well as the page/mute and system on jacks. This is the most compact 8 x 8 (expandable to 8 x 16) system on the market today. Instead of racks of equipment, it can be discreetly mounted on or in the wall. 50 watts per zone (25+25) at 8 ohms means robust power at the speakers and lively entertainment when the mood strikes!
The all-new Hi-Fi 2 expander adds 8 zones of amplification for a total of 16 zones. The Expansion Amplifier is the same form factor as the main amplifier, and is available in a vented enclosure or on a structured wiring backplate. A single ribbon cable (provided with the expansion amplifier) connects the two together, linking sources and control with the main amplifier. The expansion amplifier MUST be mounted below the main amplifier, not more than 6 inches away. The expansion amplifiers are shipped with 8 VSCs. The expansion amplifier has line outputs for zones 15 and 16.
Upgrading from an original Hi-Fi: The form factor and wiring for the Hi-Fi 2 is similar to the original Hi-Fi. The main amplifier, RIM and VSC connect with Cat5, as before. The speaker connections are the same de-pluggable terminal strips. However, Hi-Fi 2 RIMs and VSCs are not interchangeable with Hi-Fi RIMs and VSCs. If replacing the main amplifier, the RIMs and VSCs must also be replaced.
Photos and a tech sheet will be released in the coming weeks.
